Keith Henning and Jody Paulsen, the designers behind the Adriaan Kuiters x Jody Paulsen brand, have opened up their 73 Kloof Street store to fellow designers with whom they share a similar aesthetic and values. Previously, the 73 Kloof Street store was shared with Take Care, the label by designer Jessica Harwood.
Take Care remains part of the offering, which now includes Katherine-Mary Pichulik’s accessories line, the new branded fragrance line House of Gozdawa by Agata Karolina, Steffany Roup, Hanna Collection, Elaine du Plessis’s Drotsky and MORE Made-to-Measure.
Says Keith Henning: “Because it can be overwhelming and financially difficult for South African designers to expand internationally, we are aiming to grow the store in Cape Town until it has built the necessary momentum to go overseas. It is our dream to make it the go-to South African design store for international lovers of good design. This is an exciting progression for us and knowing that we are moving forward, makes us very happy.”
In further progress towards achieving that goal, the Adriaan Kuiters-Jody Paulsen duo will be heading to Dubai next week for Vogue Italia’s Dubai Fashion Experience, as we’ve previously reported. We wish them – and the other featured African designers- all the best of luck for that, and admire the progress the brand has made over the years. It’s been an inspiring journey to watch – a brand that started off in basics, retailing at the Neighbourgoods Market, to retailing from its own boutique, to opening up its doors to other, equally exciting and impressive South African fashion entrepreneurs.
We look forward to further supporting and observing the entire collective’s journey into the future.
