2016 is getting off to a fabulously fashionable start, and one of our favourite young designers has been hard at work. Just two weeks ago we shared an all Jenevieve Lyons editorial shot by photographer IL Retallack, and now Jenevieve has blessed us again with a lookbook for Disparent, her S/S 2016 collection.
She describes Disparent as a collection that “does not look at being apparent to a trend yet to be transparent to the visual eye in order for the viewer to adapt to the oddity of the aesthetic in form of visual interpretation, it reveals a process of continuously tapping into the zeitgeist in order to bring a new parable to the eye and allow the onlooker to be fascinated and to sense anew.”
We might have to read that again to make sure we get it, but what we definitely get are the stunning shots of this tranquil collection in a muted colour palette. We are very much into its cool cottons, linens and luxurious silks mixed in with thin ribbed summer knits. It’s got us even more amped to see her Autumn/Winter 2016 collection, which she will be showcasing on the 4th of February at SA Menswear week in Cape Town.
