Jenevieve Lyons opens SA Menswear Week tomorrow as the spring-summer collections begin at the Cape Town Stadium. Yep! It’s a whole stadium for the fashion set to play around at. Wonder if they’ll let us play on the actual pitch…
Okay, most probably not, but we look forward to it in any case.
Jenevieve’s collection is called “Alabaster”, which she explains as follows:
“Alabaster takes inspiration from the fine-grained texture found within golden brown granite, often with sparks of milky white texture in between. It is of this texture that a print emphasised throughout the collection was born. The collection features a smart use of minimal, light layering, with double & single layered anoraks throughout.”
As for how we can expect this to manifest, Miss Lyons says we can look forward to a clever use of print, texture, detail including zipped on-sets and drawstrings tying hoods to anoraks “while ribbing seams together sweater tops”. Sounds to me like a lot of detail but the designer says this collection draws from the minimal side of the Jenevieve Lyons brand.
Well, we will most definitely be there to see it all play out on the runway. Other designers who will be unveiling collections tomorrow night include Craig Jacobs, Terence Brey and Laduma Ngxokolo, who we are excited to see after that Pitti Uomo showing! Nguni Shades, Presidential Shirt and Augustine are also on tomorrow’s schedule and the weekend will of course bring forth collections from the likes of Angola’s Projecto Mental, Nigeria’s Orange Culture, Rich Mnisi, Lukhanyo Mdingi, Simon Deporres and Kim Gush, among others.
