I mentioned on my FNB JoburgArtFair opening post last Friday that I was planning on heading back to the art fair to actually check out the art. Well I did, and snapped some pics for you to check out below.
Above: I walked around with my dear friends Mary and Zolitha, who were super impressed to find their colour scheme for the day on a Georgina Gratrix and a Jody Paulsen. It’s the little things skattie, it’s the little things.
These are Tapticles. Now you know. Live and learn skat.
One of my favourite things at the fair. I’m sure you’ve been to an exhibition and thought: I could have done that myself. Well, now you can, for R25k a pop. Thank you Barend
Then there was this haunting performance by Carla Fonseca.
It wouldn’t be art fair week without the Nkandla patriarch making an appearance would it? Doesn’t quite get the same reaction it used to though, #nottrending.
There was also The Farewell, a procession by Paa Joe and his son, presented by our partners Art Africa. I can’t get over them fantasy coffins. I totally want to get buried in one. Can you imagine a more skattieliscious coffin???
Ed Young, is also responsible for the “I See Black People” piece up at the top. As much I stan for Impact as a font, I dream of Helvetica, Verdana, Times New Roman, and even Arial for you Ed. There’s a whole world of fonts out there Ed.
