The South African Market, the designer emporium on Bree Street, Cape Town, will soon be opening doors in Johannesburg as well as Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. The concept store turns two this year and the founders, Berlinda White and Naomi Bossert, are hosting a party to celebrate the second birthday, tonight.
The store was borne out of frustration with finding unique, South African design product and opened its doors in December 2013. They now stock over 100 local brands.
Guests at the party will get a preview into the summer season ahead and will be supported by a fashion show and performances from musical acts that are part of a local arts incubator known as M-POWER.
“This year has been an absolute whirlwind for us but it has made us a stronger team,” says owner Naomi. “We are doing better than ever.”
She added that a new concept is on the cards for Johannesburg and Amsterdam stores, but said that those plans would be revealed at a later stage.
For now? We party!
