Starting tomorrow, the Spier Wine Farm near Stellenbosch will be hosting a weekly market at the newly restored Spier Werf farmyard, where food lovers, and anyone who is tickled by phrases like ‘organic’, ‘local’, ‘seasonal’ and ‘homemade’ can go get their fix every Saturday.
According to the press release, here’s what you can expect:
“… organic seasonal fruit and vegetables to grass-fed beef biltong and farm eggs. And, if you get peckish while you browse, you can snack on a selection of artisanal cheese and freshly baked pastries, washed down with a glass of Spier wine, a craft beer or a gin cocktail.”
Activities for kids include farm games, a chicken-shaped jumping castle, face painting, workshops, a kids’ entrepreneurial market and more.
Sounds like a good Saturday morning vibe to us, doesn’t it to you? And, guess what? Entrance is free. I can’t imagine a better Saturday morning treat, out on a farm, not too far away from the city, but just far enough to avoid the bustle. Not that Cape Town is Jozi-like, but you catch my drift, don’t you? It’s summer, the weather is nice! Let’s ride.
The farm hosted a market here recently following the Spier Secret Festival, that’s where the images you see are from. Looks like the right kinda post-party Friday vibe to me!
The brand new Spier Werf Market takes place every Saturday from 9am – 2pm at Spier Wine Farm, R310 Baden Powell Road, Stellenbosch, 7603.
