Description: Clean lines, colour and detail were the name of the game when Rich Mnisi’s latest collection for his label OATH made it out on the runway at SA Menswear Week SS15. It combined a bright colour palette- orange, cobalt blue and variations of a monochromatic print- with a sporty influence. Sheer mesh separates came out paired with jackets in bright orange and blue. Rich exhibited a knack for detail with drawstrings and fastenings. While the latter appeared somewhat decorative, at no point did it feel out of place.
Wearability Score: 9/10
Peacocking Points: 8/10
Skattie Thoughts: The public was first introduced to Rich through the AFI Fasttrack competition only early last year and he has since not lost momentum, progressing and developing a strong design signature with every passing season. The minimalist approach has remained and he keeps reinforcing it by exploring shape rather than trying to go for design that betrays utility by being over-designed. In simple terms, it is design that doesn’t shout, but speaks with conviction, making it all that more attractive.
