So, last night we went to the AKJP COLLECTIVE AW16 viewing at their store on Kloof Street. Confession: we hardly bother with details when we receive an invitations from AKJP. All we need is a date and time, and we are there. So, we arrived clueless about what the event is actually about, but play, we did! In the midst of looking through the rails, we decided to put me in the items that best represent the characters I see myself embodying for Winter ’16 up in this Southern Hemisphere. True to form and drink, we forgot to take down all the prices, but if I remember correctly, only one or two items I adorned were worth beyond 2-grand a piece. Most were between R750, to about R1, 600, which, when you think about it, is quite similar to what one would expect to pay at Zara, or Country Road, but like, in the spirit of 90% local, just better innit? Trust us, it’s worth your time to take a detour at AKJP should you be considering a new winter wardrobe. They have a wide selection of local designers including the AKJP brand, Lukhanyo Mdingi, Hanna, W35T, Selfi, Nicholas Coutts, Tamara Cherie, Pichulik, Drotsky, Steffany Roup, Thalia Strates, Waif, House of Gozdawa and Matblac. Look, I really wanted to try out as much as possible, but I’m no model (and I’ve got self-diagnosed ADD), so I eventually just got a bit tired of changing. I was also heating up like crazy, so I decided to cut the shoot short and get back to the schmoozing. But, ja. Let’s keep it 90!
